The Dryden Resource Awareness Coalition (DRAC) was created in the spring of 2009 by Dryden, NY, residents concerned about the possible upcoming consequences that high-volume, slick-water hydrofracturing of gas wells drilled into the Marcellus Shale may bring, not only to their own neighborhoods but also to the southern New York area, and more generally, to “shale play” areas around the country where drilling is already in progress. They participate in various county-wide and out of county efforts to safeguard the region’s water, air, and soil resources and, more generally, an environment in which people, animals, and plants can live and flourish. They meet the first Monday of the month at 7pm at the Dryden Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public.
