Food Bank of Central New York

Food Bank of Central New York serves as the main food distribution hub for hundreds of partner agencies that comprise the emergency food network in eleven counties across central and northern New York.They provide more than 22.5 million pounds of food to families, children, and elderly every year. Their Fresh Food program delivers fresh produce, dairy, and bread donated by area grocery stores on a daily basis to community organizations for immediate distribution to neighborhood residents, salvaging food that would otherwise be discarded at grocery retailers and offers food insecure individuals the opportunity to receive fresh, nutritious food in their neighborhood.They educate all levels of government on the importance of increasing funding for government programs, and on the important role that food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens have in filling the gap. They also provide a variety of educational resources and outreach initiatives.
